Snowmageddon 2013

Winter Storm "Q" dumped 14.2 inches of snow on us last week making it the 2nd biggest snow storm in recorded Wichita history. Kirk and Kaleb have had a lot of fun playing in the snow. Kirk has had the most fun. It has brought out his inner child. Apparently, the child in him is a redneck too. Now we have winter storm "Rocky" coming through. It's not proving to be as bad as they expected it to be for us. We'll see what happens overnight tonight, but so far, no big deal.

Sweet Feet

We went to Kansas City Wednesday for Emery's appointment with the pediatric orthopedic surgeon. We are so relieved and excited to share the news that Emery does not have "true club foot." Her feet are turned in, but it was caused by her position in the womb... her crowded position in the womb. The bone structure of her feet is perfect and Dr. Jarka said that her feet would correct themselves likely before she even starts walking. That means no casts and no braces!! Of course, she said that if we feel like they are not straightening out we should call them, but that she does not expect to see us again!! We are ecstatic!! Mommy's going shopping for shoes and a cute bathing suit, both things that I wouldn't buy before because I thought we wouldn't be able to use them.

Otherwise, we are doing great. Oliver seems to change every day. We think he may be our big child. He eats WELL and he's really filling out. Emery is gaining weight, but she is still very petite. Nothing wrong with a petite little girl though!

Kaleb had gotten to the age where he didn't want pictures taken. Now we pull out the camera to take pics of the babies and he has to be in the middle of everything!

2 weeks old!

Emery and Oliver had their 2 week checkup yesterday. They are both doing great and gaining weight perfectly! Emery is now 6 lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long. Oliver is 7 lbs 4 oz and 19 3/4 inches long. Dr. K was very pleased with their growth and everything else checked out great as well.

I wish I had brought my camera with us to the appointment to catch big brother Kaleb in action. He stood on a step next to the exam table and supervised the entire checkup. He made sure that both babies were checked out equally and was very concerned about what she was doing to them. He's growing more proud of them everyday! He has been quite the helper around the house and is adjusting very well to our new little additions.

The babies are finally starting to have more awake time during the day and are starting to sleep longer stretches at night. Unfortunately, those longer stretches are not happening simultaneously so I am still up A LOT at night. We will get there soon though. For now, I am soaking in all the cuddles and love I can during those middle of the night nursing sessions. They won't be babies for long!
